FFL verification in minutes, not days

Updated By Project Parabellum3 min readArticle

Every wholesale account starts with the same step: prove you're licensed. Usually that means emailing a PDF of your FFL to someone and waiting for them to get to it.

We verify FFLs because distributor pricing is for licensed dealers. We just don't want it to take a week.

What you do

Go to the FFL page, or do it as part of signing up.

  1. Type your FFL number and click Lookup.
  2. Check the details that come back.
  3. Upload a copy of your license. PDF, PNG, JPG or WebP, up to 10MB. A clear scan or a straight-on phone photo both work.
  4. Submit.

What we do with it

When you submit, we look your license number up in our copy of the ATF's published list of federal firearms licensees. The ATF updates that list weekly, and so do we. If we find you, the licensee name, premises address and expiration date from the ATF record go onto your verification, so you don't have to type them.

Then we read your uploaded document. An AI model reads the license number off the image and compares it to the number you typed. If they match, the read is clear, and the ATF record is active and in your account's name, you're approved automatically. That usually takes a few minutes.

When it goes to a person

Anything that isn't a clean match goes to one of us to check by hand:

  • The number on the document doesn't match the one you typed
  • The image is blurry, cropped or at an angle, so the number can't be read with confidence

Manual reviews can take up to 5 business days. If you're in a hurry, a sharp, flat PDF or photo with the whole license in frame is the best way to avoid one.

If you get a message that we couldn't reach the ATF registry, that's a problem on our end, not with your license. Try again in a few minutes.

Checking your status

The FFL page shows where you are: Pending Review, Under Review, Approved or Rejected. We also send a notification when you're approved or rejected.

Your license has an expiration date, and so does your verification. When you renew with the ATF, upload the new license the same way.

Try it

FFL verification is part of signing up, on every plan. If you've already got an account and haven't verified yet, go to the FFL page.
